This image of the Bay of La Concha (the shell) is painted in oils on canvas, the size is 11”x14” it is framed on gallery-wrapped canvas. The sides of the painting are painted with a light ochre paint. This resort on the northern coast of Spain has a surprisingly perfectly semi-circular gentle shallow bay. I’ve painted this image from my photograph taken in the Spanish seacoast resort village of San Sebastian, a lovely city in the north of Spain, near Bilbao, in the Basque Country. It is on the coast of the Bay of Biscay and very near the French border. It is one of the most famous urban beaches in Europe. It became a European Capital of Culture City in 2016.
