This painting is in oil on gallery wrapped canvas with the edges painted in a blue violet color, the color of the painted sky, with no staples showing along the edges. Mission Nuestra Señora de la Purísima Concepción de Acuña, popularly known as Mission Concepción, was dedicated in 1755 in current day San Antonio, Texas. It has two bell towers, a carved stone portal and a famous interior stone stairway.  It was reported that the moon was painted on one side and the sun on the other and that the entire façade was painted with geometric “flower work.” I used a new color for me in this painting, it is by Williamsburg and is called Provence Violet Bluish- I am really liking this new color.
